Subteams
Biosafety
This subteam works on mechanisms to converse our E. coli strain to a safety strain. One the one hand this team works on an antibiotics free selection system and on the other hand on a kill switch.
Construction
The construction team works on the realization of a reverse microbial fuel cell (rMFC). The challenge is the design and construction of the bioreactor. There are many aspects that need to be considered, like the material and the dimension of the electrodes or process control system issues.
CO2-fixation
This subteam works with the transformation of a heterotroph organism to an autotroph organism. The aim is to realize the whole Calvin cycle. The main focus lies on the use of the carboxysome.
Homepage and Wiki
The homepage and wiki team publishes new information about the team and the project on both webpages.
Production of isobutanol
For a proof of concept one team works on the production of isobutanol. In theory there are more carbon sources which can be used by producing pyruate. This work bases on the work of iGEM Team Formosa 2011 and 2012.
Mediators
A mediator must have the ability to be reducable by electricity at the electrodes and must have perfect constraints for an uptake by the cell. These constraints are for example the size to pass the first membrane or there has to exist a protein based electron uptake system that is encoded by appropriate genes.
Modeling
This subteam models the production of isobutanol and other reactions. We want to compare these results with our experimental data.
Rathenau - SYNENERGENE
Our iGEM team participates at the SYNENERGENE project of the Rathenau Institute. In cooperation we work on some future scenarios for our project. This subteam has contact to different firms which could participate at the realization of our project.
Social Media and Design
Our social media and design team is responsable for facebook and twitter where our latest information are published in addition with some pictures. Additionally they are designing all our project graphics for presentations and webpages.
Sponsoring
This subteam goes in contact with different sponsors for our project. The aim is to get enough support to pay all costs for participation, travel and other emerging costs. All sponsors are mentioned in the category partners.
