Every year, UT Knoxville is involved with the HITES (High School Introduciton to Enginnering Systems). Each year, we take several talented students from Tennessee and many neighboring states and introduce them to various parts of the engineering field. These students get to meet with instructors and students involved with UT's engineering program and recieve hands on experiences by partaking in a project run by on of our labs. This year, the students were involved in genetically modifying E. Coli to produce ethyl butarate and RFP.
