Dundee 2014

Fundraising

Raising Money and Awareness

Bake Sale

No one can resist fresh baking, and so we hosted a bake sale in the laboratory building to spread the word about Cystic Fibrosis and The Lung Ranger. We raised money for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, educated members of the University about Cystic Fibrosis and spread the word about the work we were doing. We also saw a bit of healthy competition between the Dundee iGEM Team, to see who would be crowned the ‘Star Baker’. It was a close call between Fatima's ‘Lung Ranger Oreo Cheesecake’, Gillian’s tasty traybakes and Dave’s delicate raspberry and chocolate bites...

Sponsored Runs

We had to work off the cake we’d got used to eating in the Division of Molecular Microbiology somehow. Various members of the team decided to run either a 10K or a Half Marathon to raise money for the CF Trust; the main National Charity in the UK, which supports people living with CF.

Overall we raised £787.15 (U.S. $1262.08) for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust through our runs and bake sales.
