EcoCADMUS provides a safe and selective way to remove
Cadmium Sulfide from waste water using Synthetic Biology.
The Solution
Our project is biological approach to remove Cadmium from wastewaters by transporting Cadmium ions into the cell and chelating them with a protein called Phytochelatin. Find out more about the Cadmium genes in our plasmid construct here.

Outreach
As part of our project, we wanted to introduce the public to the concept of Genetically Modified Organisms and how they have a multitude of uses. Our outreach took us to many people and places as we explored the relationship between the public and Synthetic Biology
