Policy & Practice

This summer, Abdullah, our outreach coordinator, planned several activities in which we engaged the community in learning and discussing synthetic biology. We gave 45 min powerpoint presentations to a range of audiences; from incoming freshmen interested in pursuing biology as a career, to eight graders eager to learn more. We engaged with programs such as CTD (Center for Talent Development) and BioExcel. In addition, we served as advisors to a group of motivated high school students who were trying to use the tools of synthetic biology to combat diseases such as HIV/AIDS. Furthermore, we helped other teams' efforts by completing their surveys.
