About Our Team
Honglin Chen
Student
I am Chen Honglin and I am a junior student in the school of life science. Glad to meet everyone in this specific way. In iGEM, my job was to design the project. It was not easy to come up a great achievable idea. After years of reading paper and experimenting, I finally can handle the whole program. Me myself is a huge fun of board game, especially The killer of Three Kingdoms. If any iGEMer has interest, I can teach you in person!
Xin Ge
Student
I am Ge Xin and glad to meet all the iGEM friends! I changed my major from biology to advertisement recently. So I am in charge of a part of wiki and some human practice. In the spare time, watching American TV show is my favorite way to relax. And I am a huge Marvel fan! Can’t wait to meet other iGEMer Marvel fan!
Fei Jin
Student
I am a junior majoring in life science with special interest in epigenetic and my name is Jin Fei. In the past 10 month I put most of my time on the IGEM and was response to the cell group. My main work consisted of cell direct conversion from MEF to neuron with two other team members. Talking about hobbies, some computer game and sports are good ways to relax. Most importantly killing cells in a variety ways is my biggest interest now.
Yilin Li
Student
Hello! I'm Li Yilin, a student from college of life science, not a professional researcher but the one who put all our plan of human practice into reality. In addition, I contact companies to get sponsorship or to gain professional. I’m also the one in charge of our team finance.
Hanyu Pan
Student
Hey, I am Pan Hanyu and i am a junior student majoring in the life science in Fudan University. It is a great honor to meet other iGEMer around world. I was worked with my friends Yang Heqing and Niu Yichi. Before joining this team. I don’t have much experiment experience. In the team, I have learned a lot and gained valuable experience. Working with other people courage me to improve myself. Outside of lad, I love to watch Korean TV show and play card games.
Jinkai Wan
Student
As a junior student in Fudan University, I chose biology to be my lifelong major and I am Wan Jinkai. I worked in the cell group and my main duty is to culture cells. I spent most of my time in the lab and in the car between two campus. It’s a wonderful experience while working in team. In my spare time, my favorite thing is work out. I spent a lot of time in gym and I hope to have a fit body.
Xuanye Cao
Student
Hello everyone, this is Cao Xuanye. I am a junior year biology major with experience working and great social ability. As a leader of our team, I played a significant role in the part of design and experiment. However science is not my whole life, in the spare time, I am a violinist. Thanks to the IGEM, I met my girlfriend and it’s romantic to run this team with her.
Heqing Yang
Student
I'm a junior in the School of Life Science, Fudan University. I work on starting and running our team with Cao Xuanye. During this summer, I focus on the work related with molecular cloning operation, such as the construction of TET induced expression system and Cre/loxP system. It has been a really intense but exciting time, for I cherish more about the process of the experiment than the result. The challenges we face every time often motivate me to think more. I'm rather interested in the way life operates, and eager to figure out how it works, finally to make a life act in the way we designed. Outside of the lab, I enjoy ball games and jogging. I'd like to make friends and exchange ideas with iGEMers all over the world.
Siyu Xiao
Student
As the only sophomore in this team, I am Xiao Siyu. I interested in biology since high school and joined this team immediately after heard about it. Even though I lack of some basic knowledge about this field, I still enthusiasm about it. My main job is human practice and run an organization about iGEM in Fudan. In this team, I learned a lot from others about experiment, design and even run a team. I wish I can join next year’s iGEM again and play an important role in it.
Lu Zhang
Student
Hello everyone! My name is Zhang Lu, another junior student from the school of life science. I am in the cell group and worked with my good partners Jin Fei and Wang Jinkai. The lab for our group is in another campus, it takes 40 minutes to get there. It was tired on the way but also a good time for me to think. Personally, I love archaistic comic, especially Qin’s Moon. And I love to make friends with other people!
Yichi Niu
Student
I am a junior majoring in biotechnology and i am Niu Yichi. Unlike other member of our team, I am in charge of the the mathematical modeling and analyzing. Also, I structured the plasmid and analyzed when the cell was running. I don’t like to do much in the spare time, sometimes play board games with roommate and read papers.
Zhu Liu
Student
Hi! I am Liuzhu. I am a graduate student majoring in the life science. I used to in charge of design webs and build mathematical models in my lab. So I was invited by the leader to join this team and help the design the wiki web and organize the wiki.
Daru Lu
Tutor
He is a experienced professor in the department of genetic. He is a nice instructor and gave us lots of help. He helped us to get funds to start the whole project and managed to give us a small room as our own lab. We got few of our ideas from him and during the project, he provided us protocols and samples to achieve the whole thing. Thank him for standing for us all the time.
Fei Lan
Tutor
He is a young professor with great achievement. As the PI of department of biomedicine, Doctor Lan provided him own lab for the cell group and helped them to culture cell. The lab is not the only thing he helped us, he provided lots of experimental materials and suggestions. Thank him for being so nice to us and cutting down the cost for us.
Ting Ni
Tutor

Timeline
We were debugging our previous design, and we were making our wiki pages and poster. Giant jamboree was waiting for us!
We successfully directly converted the MEF to iPSc with our design. Visas and air tickets were prepared. We still needed to work out the other part of our project for the limit time.
Our iGEM lab was still not available, but luckily our instructors supplied us with their labs. We could start our project again. We all felt excited! Besides, we attended the meets up held by NCTU Formosa, we all learnt a lot in that meets up.
We encountered great difficulties and problems -- The school of life sciences, where we were doing experiments before, made a move to a new place (Our new school region). During this chaotic time, our lab had been strongly destroyed into a mass. Many plasmids and DNA we made successfully before got lost, and we all felt very upset.
We needed to take the final examinations , so we had a quite long rest for iGEM.
We helped Tongji iGEM team with their project and wikis, and at the same time we started the wet experiments of the project. We constructed the first plasmid we need successfully!
Our lab was constructed successfully, and our design of project was completed preliminarily. So we started the training for our wet team members.
We formed our team. For we did not have any iGEM lab before (previous works were all be done in a professor’s lab, but this year it could not be permitted any more.), we began to build our own iGEM lab, and at the same time, we invited our advisors and instructors to join us. In late March, the brain storm was coming -- We started our design!
We learnt of iGEM competition from the previous team members of Fudan iGEM team. We started to do some self-learning about synthetic biology, and we also held some salons for synthetic biology.
