For our research, we utilize two different organisms in two different labs. First we use Escherichia coli in a biochemical engineering lab and Methanococcus maripaludis in microbiology lab. Safety is taken very seriously in both of our labs and pants, closed toed shoes, and gloves were worn at all times. In our microbiology lab, our own safety is not all that is considered, we must also consider our organism's safety.
