The Project – ELECTRACE
ELECTRACE encompasses employment and optimization of electron transport in bacteria. Eventually, we would like to create a plug-and-play module to which biosensors can be coupled, conductivity being the output. Engineering, modeling and improving the Mtr system of Shewanella oneidensis in Escherichia coli will be the basis of our strategy. Input will be provided by a DNT-responsive promotorsystem, capable of detecting leech-landmine molecules. Output will be optimized by implementing, amongst others, a Curli system consisting of conductive bacterial fibers.
