Due to this misuse, there are about 3,000 tons of mercury in Amazonian willing effluents contaminating humans and aquatic biodiversity. Their effects on health are: abdominal pain, diarrhea, osteoporosis, neurodegenerative diseases, kidney damage, psychological and psychomotor impairment.</span></p>
