Cooper Union 2014 iGEM

Hardware

OpenGelBox

The midi gel box is an open source lab equipment design. This design was created by Karlin Yeh and Wilfrido Castillo and a version of it is in the Cooper Union. This design is made from acrylic sheet. The main purpose was to run more samples at once; this design can easily running 30 samples at a time. Previously, our lab would need to run several mini gels in series in order to analyze all the samples produced. With a midi gel box, we can now quickly assess the results while minimizing the consumable materials involved in each electrophoretic run.
