Home Our Team Our Project Notebook Entrepreneuership Safety Sponsors

Mizzou's Team is made up of eight students and two mentoring faculty. This page is intended to host our team information, an abstract of our project, project progress via the Lab Notebook, and much more. You are invited to explore this site and learn more about the project and progress.

The team is very excited to have the opportunity to participate in the iGEM competition and, more importantly, to learn and be submerged in synthetic biology. The team is thankful for all of the support for the university, the mentoring professor's, Dr. Mario Pennella and Dr. Shari Freyermuth, and the various other sponsors that have made this possible.

Welcome to the University of Missouri's Wiki Page!

In Spring of 2014, the University of Missouri in Columbia formed its very first competition team for a synthetic biology competition hosted by the International Genetically Engineered Machine (iGEM) Foundation, of which is "dedicated to education and competition, advancement of synthetic biology, and the development of open community and collaboration".

The 2014 iGEM Competition currently has 245 teams registered from all around the world. Teams work very hard to design and carry out innovative synthetic biology projects over a number of months. Over the last weekend in October, October 30th through November 3rd, teams will have the opportunity to present their work at the Giant Jamboree in Boston, Massachusetts.
