       <p>Nitrogen fixing ability of rhizobium is significant for the growth of legumes. The stronger of its ability, the less chemical fertilizer will be used. Molybdenum is a key integral part of nitrogen fixing enzyme in rhizobium and Mo is also important for the growth of plants themselves. However, Mo is heavy mental. The abuse of it will cause environment pollution. Hence, spot application of Mo is of great importance. A plasmid was transfer into <i>E.coli</i> Prometheus to make it express fusion protein, one side of which anchors on the out membrane and the other side of which,ModA,catches molybdate. With the help of organic acid tendency system, our Prometheus will head for the roots. The Story of Prometheus
We are iGEMers from BNU-China, we are going to tell you a story about E.coli Prometheus ...

Mr E.coli Prometheus is a philanthropic man. One day, he saw plenty poor peanuts living in a condition that was rough for them to grow up nor to flower. He made up his mind that he must to do something to help!

Then he found us for help, he asked for the power to collect molybdate and send them to peanut. We told him: " Since the power is not belong to you in nature, for the sake of the other life, you will die after this." But he didn't change his mind for one second.

E.coli Prometheus collected many molybdate with the power ...

He sent the precious micronutrient to those peanut everyday. The peanuts became more and more healthier and was about to flower ...

Sadly, E.coli Prometheus flied to heaven before he saw the flowers of peanut. He died as we informed him before. His body changed into nutrition for peanut after his death.
     He is honorable.

Hence, spot application of Mo is of great importance; it would be even better to concentrate the element only around the roots. Wiki Design

Art design, pictures, figures and the latest experiment results were put on the wiki in time. Wiki is an important platform to show our works.


ModA & INPN

ModA we used in our project is a kind of protein that can bind the molybdate and INPN can display ModA on E.coli's surface.


Chemotaxis

We Used McfR plasmid to give the E.coli the capacity of Chemotaxis, so that those E.coli with molybdate can swim to the root of peanut.


Modeling

We have made the model of peanut root and E.coli in environment to show how our thought be realized out of lab.
