SPECIAL EVENTS

The iGEM 2014 Giant Jamboree will take place at the Hynes Convention Center over the course of 4.5 days. We have over 130,000 square feet and over 30 available rooms available. All of this space affords us the opportunity to have more special events, panels, workshops, etc. than we have ever been able to host before. In addition to the main portion of the Jamboree which is the team presentations and posters as in the past, we are organizing and inviting others to organize additional special events.

The special events we're working on include:

  • iGEM Startup Showcase

  • Regional Lounges

  • Team Banner showcase

  • Giant Jamboree Concert / Dance Party

  • AlumniGEM

  • "Night on the Town"
"Night on the Town" is an effort to encourage teams to explore the city of Boston and venture outside of the Jamboree venue! The Hynes Convention Center is conveniently located in the heart of downtown Boston, so it is near many shops, restaurants, as well as the tour buses that will take you around the city. There is plenty to do, though teams should be aware that the legal drinking age in the United States is 21, so team members under the age of 21 may not be admitted into bars and nightclubs. You will also need to present identification in order to enter bars and nightclubs.
